It's Green! (Monochromatic Too :)

This one ought to blast you awake!  It's my Funkie week monochromatic make for our Frilly and Funkie challenge.  I was actually planning to go with yellows, but when I saw what my teammies had made (yellows/browns) I decided I needed to go in a different direction.  I first used the new Tiles stencil and white Ranger embossing paste to lay down the back layer.  When it was dry, I painted on the greens.  I was going for sort of an ombre effect without doing it with a DIY pad.  I made a separate wash with four distress greens (Forest Moss, Peeled Paint, Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron) and painted diagonal wavy stripes with each color.  It wasn't quite grungy enough so I loaded up my paintbrush with the Forest Moss wash and gave it a few spatters.  I meant to take a picture before I covered it all up, but darn, missed that opportunity.  While I had the four washes on my craft sheet, I used the paint brush to color the leaves which were cut from white CS with the Spring Greenery decorative strip die.  My crazy birds were stamped with Forest Moss onto watercolor paper and likewise colored.

I hand cut the grass, colored it with Mowed Lawn (of course :) and sewed it onto the tag.  The banner was cut freehand from Tissue Wrap and a sentiment from Small Talk was adhered.  I took my finger and smeared a little Forest Moss DI on the Small Talk stickers.  My tiny dragon flies were painted with Twisted Citron distress paint and my originally silver tone filigree was embossed with Wendy Vecchi's Fern Green embossing powder.  The gumdrop was tinted with a drop of Twisted Citron reinker.

I definitely had a blast getting inky with this one!  These crazy birds are so dang cute!  Hope you will join us for the last week of our monochromatic challenge over at Frilly and Funkie.

Linda, I just have to say I giggled when I first saw this...a loving giggle, and almost a squeal of delight! This has got to be my favorite thing you have done! I love the colors, and the way you stenciled and painted your background-genius! I love how you've sewn the cool banner and grass onto the tag; just makes this so special. And of course, those crazy birds--what personality! FAB-YOU-LUS! Geesh, now I've got to go make a sandwich--those verifcations are very hard on my diet!

This is a super fun tag. I love the textured background that looks like a stone wall with the tree branches cascading over it. The altered medallion is fabulous and the birds are beautifully coloured to match your green theme.
Hugs!
Cec
